Optimal Health Includes Mental Health

Just like other aspects of health, mental health plays a significant role in overall wellbeing.

Mental health conditions are more common than you may realize. In fact, poor mental health can impact anyone of any race, gender, or age. That’s right, mental health problems can, and do, affect children.

Two of the biggest myths about mental health conditions I want to debunk once and for all are the ideas that: A) People with mental health problems can snap out of it if they try hard enough, and B) Personality weakness or character flaws cause mental health problems.

These myths are incredibly damaging and contribute to misunderstandings and stigma regarding mental health.

Mental health is one area of health that we’ve been socialized to not discuss, but that we all need to understand. My newsletters will introduce various topics on mental health as well as offer healthy action steps you can implement right away and offer words of inspiration.
